New Silk Road

About

The New Silk Road is an ambitious project launched by President Xi Jinping in 2013, connecting Asia, Europe and Africa for a win-win cooperation through:

  • A land route that crosses Central Asia by rail and arrives in Europe via Iran and Turkey.
  • A maritime route that, starting from the Chinese coasts, continues along the Strait of Malacca, Kuala Lumpur, Sri Lanka, Nairobi, Djibouti and Suez and arrives in the Mediterranean sea.

  • A digital route: digital infrastructures, 5G etc.

The New Silk Road has extended to Latin America over the past few years, and has become a new model of international cooperation.

The Project involves 63% of the world's population (about 4.4 billion people) and has developed 1,400 projects worth $292 billion in over 65 countries.
