The Italian participation in the China International Import Expo in Shanghai



From November 5 to 10, 2021, the fourth edition of the China International Import Expo (CIIE) was held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai.


More than 100 Italian companies participated with their own stands, covering an area of ​​about 12,000 square meters with three commercial pavilions dedicated to the sectors of environmental technologies, medical technologies and jewelery and one dedicated to the promotion of Italian cultural heritage entitled " Italian Landscape "in view of the Italy-China Year of Culture and Tourism in 2022.


The President of the Italian Government Mario Draghi spoke at a distance at the inaugural ceremony and underlined that the CIIE is "one of the largest commercial events in China and in the world. The Italian entrepreneurial sector is strongly present. The Shanghai Expo can play an important role in promoting a more inclusive and sustainable economic recovery, themes that have been at the center of the agenda of the Italian Presidency of the G20 and of the COP26 in Glasgow, in partnership with the United Kingdom ".


China is the second non-European destination for Italian export, which in the first 9 months of 2021 grew by 31.5% compared to the same period of 2020 (+ 21.7% on 2019).
