Care Amiche e Cari Amici,
Desidero esprimere personalmente ed a nome dell'Associazione Silk Council la massima solidarietà e vicinanza a tutte le persone colpite dal “coronavirus 2019-ncov” ed ai loro familiari.
Tutta la comunità internazionale si è attivata tempestivamente e con spirito di leale collaborazione per far fronte a questa crisi sanitaria. Lo stesso Governo Cinese sta mettendo in campo le sue migliori risorse per risolvere tale difficile momento. La situazione è sotto controllo e siamo fiduciosi. È un momento delicato che va affrontato insieme, con umanità, solidarietà e buon senso.
Ho appreso con rammarico degli episodi di razzismo e discriminazione che si sono verificati verso membri della comunità cinese residente in Italia ed in particolar modo di quelli avvenuti nelle scuole. Sono inoltre molto dispiaciuta per il modo in cui una parte dei mezzi di comunicazione sta influenzando l'opinione pubblica, diffondendo notizie inesatte ed etichettando il Coronavirus come “virus cinese”. Questi appellativi feriscono i sentimenti di tanti cittadini cinesi residenti in Italia, così come di altrettanti cittadini italiani, come me, di origine cinese, che contribuiscono da sempre al ruolo di “ponte” tra l'Italia e la Cina. Purtroppo questi episodi non si sono verificati solo in Italia, ma anche in altri paesi europei. I virus non hanno nazionalità, né colore della pelle, né fede religiosa o credo politico. Tali atteggiamenti discriminatori andrebbero evitati, poiché producono il solo risultato di creare barriere alla lunga amicizia tra l'Italia e la Cina, nonché causare gravi ripercussioni socio-economiche a danno di tutti.
In Italia vivono oltre 300.000 cinesi, che studiano e lavorano nel nostro Paese. Anche in Cina si sono stabiliti migliaia di italiani per motivi di studio, lavoro e incluso familiari. I “nuovi italiani” di origine cinese di seconda, terza e quarta generazione sono nati qui e sono ben integrati nel nuovo tessuto multietnico italiano. Il 2020 è l'anno della Cultura e del Turismo Italia-Cina, il cinquantesimo anniversario delle relazioni diplomatiche e il decimo anniversario degli scambi culturali tra i nostri due Paesi. L'amicizia tra Italia e Cina oggi è messa a repentaglio da questa terribile emergenza del “Coronavirus”, ma proprio nei momenti di difficoltà bisogna restare uniti ed affrontare insieme tale situazione con costruttività e propositività, senza diffondere allarmismi o alimentare la paura di ciò che non si conosce.
In questo momento difficile, anche Silk Council desidera dare il proprio contributo, così come sta facendo tutta la comunità cinese nel mondo. Cliccando di seguito è possibile fare una donazione, un Vostro piccolo gesto di amore verso chi soffre in Cina. Il ricavato sarà devoluto per l'acquisto di mascherine ed altri materiali sanitari da inviare in Cina a sostegno delle città colpite da questa emergenza, tra cui il mio paese natale, Wenzhou da cui provengono la maggior parte dei cinesi che vivono in Europa.

我谨代表欧洲丝绸之路促进会向所有受“冠状病毒2019-ncov”影响的人们以及你们的家人表示最大的支持和慰问。
整个国际社会已经以精诚合作的态度迅速行动起来，应对这一健康危机。 中国政府正在不分昼夜以最快速、最直接、最果断、最有效的方案与行动，来解决这一困难时刻。 局势已基本得到控制，对此，我们充满信心。 对于未知病毒的侵害，是需要全球性共同面对的关键问题，我们相信中国完全有能力取得这场战疫的胜利。
我也很遗憾地得知，针对居住在意大利的华人社区发生了某些种族主义和歧视事件，特别是在学校发生的事件。 对于部分媒体影响公众舆论，传播不准确的新闻并将冠状病毒标记为“中国病毒”的方式，我也感到非常震惊。 这些称谓伤害了许多居住在意大利的中国公民以及许多像我一样来自中国的华裔意大利公民的感情，他们一直为意大利和中国之间的“桥梁”作用及共同交流做出了贡献。 不幸的是，这些事件不仅发生在意大利，也发生在其他欧洲国家。 病毒没有国籍，没有肤色，没有宗教信仰或政治信仰。 应避免这种歧视性态度，因为它们产生的唯一结果是为意大利（及欧洲）和中国之间的长期友谊造成障碍，并造成严重的社会经济影响，损害了所有人。
目前在意大利生活和工作的中国人超过30万，成千上万的意大利人也在中国学习和工作，还有他们的家庭成员。 中国第二代、第三代和第四代的“新意大利人”出生在这里，并很好地融入了新的意大利多民族文化。2020年是意中文化和旅游年，两国建交五十周年，两国文化交流十周年。今天的意大利与中国之间的友谊不能因“冠状病毒”存在的恐惧感而伤害两国人民的友好。在这个非常时期，有必要保持团结并以建设性态度面对这一局势，而不是散布谣言或加剧两国关系的恶化。

Dear Friends,
I wish to express personally and on behalf of the Silk Council Association the utmost solidarity and closeness to all people affected by the "coronavirus 2019-ncov" and their families.
The whole international community acted promptly with loyal collaboration to face this health crisis. The Chinese Government is putting its best efforts to overcome this difficult moment. The situation is under control and we are confident. It is a delicate situation that must be faced together, with humanity, solidarity and common sense.
I knew with regret of the episodes of racism and discrimination that occurred against members of the Chinese community residing in Italy and especially those that occurred in schools. I am also very sorry for the way in which a part of the media is influencing public opinion, disseminating inaccurate news and labeling Coronavirus as a "Chinese virus". These titles hurt the feelings of many Chinese citizens residing in Italy, as well as many Italian citizens, like myself, of Chinese origin, who have always played the role of "bridge" between Italy and China. Unfortunately, these episodes have not only occurred in Italy, but also in other European countries. Viruses have no nationality, no race and no religious or political belief. Such discriminatory attitudes should be avoided, as they only produce the result of creating barriers to the long friendship between Italy and China, as well as causing serious social and economic consequences to the detriment of all.
Over 300,000 Chinese live in Italy, studying and working in our country. Thousands of Italians have also settled in China for study, work and family reasons. The "new Italians" of Chinese second, third and fourth generation were born here and are well integrated into the new Italian multi-ethnic society. 2020 is the China-Italy year of Culture and Tourism, the 50° anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 10° anniversary of cultural exchanges between our two countries. The friendship between Italy and China today is jeopardized by this terrible emergency of the "Coronavirus", but precisely in times of difficulty it is necessary to be close and face this situation together with constructiveness and purposefulness, without spreading alarmism or fueling the fear of the unknown.
In this difficult moment, Silk Council also wishes to make its contribution, as the whole Chinese community in the world is doing. The collected funds will be donated for the purchase of protective masks and other sanitary materials to be sent to China in support of the cities affected by this emergency, including my hometown, Wenzhou, the city of origin of most Chinese living in Europe.
